Why Solar Panels?

You’ve probably noticed an increase in residential solar panels around your neighborhood.

Arkansas is on the precipice of an energy revolution. There’s soaring demand for green, cheap energy. And for good reason.

Solar panels help lower your home’s energy bills while decreasing your carbon footprint. It’s a win for your wallet, and for the environment.

Even better news? Solar panels are more affordable than ever thanks to tax incentives and financing. In fact, many clients are cash flow positive after just one month.

Benefits of Solar Panels for Your Arkansas Home

Self-Powered Home

Create your own power and sell back what you don’t use to the local electric grid. Solar works anywhere the sun shines.

Backup Power

Don’t rely on the electric company to keep you powered up and comfortable during storms or severe weather. Solar + Battery backup stores the power you need in case of an emergency.

Maximum Control

When using a battery, you can set your system to use stored solar energy during peak times when electricity is more expensive or after the sun goes down. The ultimate energy efficiency.

Increased Property Value

Solar panels are seen as upgrades, just like a renovated kitchen or finished basement. Residential solar panels can increase your home’s value depending on the market and size of the system!

How Solar Panels Work for Your Home

Solar panels work by absorbing sunlight with photovoltaic cells. This generates direct current (DC) energy, which is then converted to usable alternate current (AC) energy. AC energy is what powers your home’s electrical panel. Any excess energy can be stored or fed into the electric grid.

How Much Do Solar Residential Panels Cost?

As technology improves, the price of producing and installing home solar panels has significantly decreased. The average cost per solar panel is almost less than half of what it was just five years ago!

Seal Solar requires zero money down, with payment plans are often cheaper than the average electric bill. It’s impossible to know the actual estimate of solar panels without more details, so feel free to get a free quote from our team to help you get an accurate estimate.

You also have to balance the cost against energy savings, the resale value of your home, and the tax credits you’ll likely qualify for.

How Many Solar Panels Are Needed to Run A House?

This will depend on the size of your home and how much energy you consume. The average size of a home in America is 1,500 square feet, with electric bills of about $100 per month. To cover this amount of electricity you would need about 19-23 solar panels.

When we determine how many solar panels and what type of system to install for your home, we take into account:

  • Square footage
  • Average monthly energy usage
  • How many appliances/electronics are in the home
  • Sunlight hours in your location

Because all of our systems are custom, there is no one answer. For a direct quote, contact us online or give us a call!

Residential Solar Power Installation Process

At Seal Solar, we follow five steps when installing solar panels:

Site Visit

A consultant will visit your property and evaluate the electrical status of your home and ensure that your system is compatible with your new solar panel system. They will also inspect your roof and your electrical box to ensure they are up to code and capable of handling the new system

Ordering Equipment

After the site visit, we’ll choose the perfect solar panels and inverters for your home’s size, location, and energy consumption. Our warehouse is fully stocked but, if needed, we’re able to order additional solar equipment for the job.

Permits and Documentation

Seal Solar will handle all permits and documentation paperwork on your behalf.

Solar Panel Installation

We’ll prep your roof, install electrical wiring, install racking, and install your solar panels. The last step of installation is connecting your inverter. The exact timeline depends on the scale of the project and weather conditions.

Interconnection and Final Sign-Off

Finally, we’ll flip the switch to ensure your system is running exactly as it should. Your electric provider representative will also complete an inspection before connecting the system to the electric grid. Once approved, you will undergo official grid interconnection, which can take up to 30 days depending on the speed of your electricity provider.

FAQs

Are Solar Panels Expensive?

No. This misconception is largely based on how much solar used to cost when it first hit the market. In the last five years, the average cost of a solar panel has dropped by 60%. Now, more than ever before, solar panels are affordable for the average homeowner.

The Inflation Reduction Act, signed into law in August 2022, expanded the Federal Tax Credit for Solar Photovoltaics, also known as the Investment Tax Credit (ITC). This credit can be claimed on federal income taxes for a percentage of the cost of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system. Here’s what’s new:

  • Those who install a PV system between 2022 and 2032 will receive a 30% tax credit. This is a 4% increase from the previous credit which was 26%.
  • The tax credit has increased from 22% to 30% for those who have already installed a system in 2022 and haven’t already claimed it.

Use this calculator to estimate how much money you could receive through the new tax credits.

Can Solar Panels Be Installed On Old Roofs?

Yes  We recommend an inspection, but roofs do not need to be brand new for homeowners to go solar. If a roof repair is needed later, panels can typically be removed and replaced without issue.

I Have Partial Shade, Will Solar Panels Still Work?

Yes. Solar panels gain energy from the sun, but endless sunlight isn’t needed for a sizable amount of electricity. Our specialists take shade into account when building customized systems.

What is the benefit of Home Solar Battery Storage?

Batteries store energy collected from solar panels, so it can be redistributed later. Their primary benefit is emergency backup power in case of major outages or natural disasters. You can add a battery to any grid-connected solar system that uses an AC coupled battery.

 Home Solar Battery Storage

There are several types of battery storage for residential solar panels. Generally speaking, these systems perform the same function – to store energy collected from the solar panels in order to redistribute it later on. You can add a battery to any grid-connected solar system that uses an AC coupled battery.

The most common reason people opt for battery storage is to provide emergency backup power in case of a major outage or natural disaster.
